Lacey and Patrick, an Autumn Wedding Celebration at Cavallo Point

A glimpse…..a crisp and sunny November afternoon under the Golden Gate. The wedding, for a dear bride named Lacey and her loving groom & husband, Patrick. Not once, were they not holding each other’s hand that day. Several of us cried, with smiles, in sharing that sight. The ceremony, lit with candlelight, the dinner reception, enjoyed well into the evening hours, with cake. Simply said, Cavallo Point.

Stanford University Memorial Church, The Olympic Club – A Wedding and Reception

Each time I look at these photos from Emily and Sean’s autumn wedding at The Stanford University Memorial Church, and reception at The Olympic Club, I cannot remove the smile from my face, nor would I wish to. The couple and their families, were two families who are now one. All of us at Kate’s Blossoms, wish you continued love, blessings, good health, and quite a lot of your continued and contagious laughter. Emily, when your Mom is next in town, bring her by the studio for scones and muffins from our local bake shop.

A New Year’s Eve Birthday Celebration, Ondine, Sausalito, California

On a crisp and sunny winter’s afternoon, during the last sunset of 2011, we had the pleasure of designing a New Year’s Eve – Birthday celebration at Ondine, located right on the Sausalito California waterfront.  Located “upstairs” in the Horizon’s-Ondine pier, this incredible event room is at the ready for all special occasions, including weddings, receptions, corporate dinners, and very special, even numbered birthdays. Our love and best wishes to The, Birthday Girl Herself, one of Sausalito’s loveliest and most gracious residents, Cheryl P.

Bar Mitzvah, Kol Shofar

An honor and a pleasure to work with an incredible family, on the flowers for their son’s Kiddush at Kol Shofar. To reflect and celebrate just a portion of Ovadia’s passion and interests, the floral designs and their unique shape, colors, and components were styled after the artwork of director and artist, Tim Burton. Wishing many continued blessings to this young man. Mazel Tov.

Cavallo Point, La Mariposa Borracha

As we sketch and plan with our client, a family celebrating an intimate wedding ceremony and brunch at Cavallo Point in January, we take a look back to an autumn birthday party in Cavallo Point’s Mariposa Room.  Known officially as “La Mariposa Borracha” this beautiful room features: A deck looking towards the Golden Gate Bridge, on which to exchange wedding vows…even on a winter’s day in January; A custom built “great table” crafted from reclaimed walnut; A cozy fireplace.

Diana and Nate Wed at The Cliff House….with a Touch of Grace

Dawn Silva and Amber Haycock, A Touch of Grace, ask us to be of help with the sweetest brides and grooms, and they pick the best of places for many a couple’s wedding day. Monday, September 5th, Labor Day itself was no exception. The morning greeted us with a very heavy blanket of dense fog, but the afternoon which followed could not have been lovelier. Diana and Nate exchanged their wedding vows on the private terrace of the The Cliff House, and celebrated with a dinner and dancing reception in The Terrace Room, well into the evening with their families and friends.

Daisy and Jim’s Wedding at Press Club, San Francisco

Daisy and Jim chose this incredible setting for their intimate wedding ceremony, grand dinner reception, and dancing, into the wee hours of the morning. Erinne + Ben = Husband and Wife – Inn Marin, Novato, California

Since late September, with a smile on my face, I have been quietly composing a missive about my work with the couple and the family featured in this post. The details are many and they are wonderful.  Respect, commitment, understanding, joy, gratitude, purity, the components of love, are included in the words I’d scribe into a sentence. And, these families were not shy about showing their love for their daughter, and their son, the bride and groom. That, was very cool.

A flash forward, to this Christmas Eve. My mail box included a card from Helene, The Mother of the Bride. While it could be viewed as “fancy” to share such details, I shall anyway. And shall share with my fond thanks now and always, to Helene, Erinne, Ben, and Aunt JJ — you are why I do and I love what I do.

“…Dear Kate, I wanted to thank you for the absolutely beautiful job you did to create a wedding of our dreams. Simple yet elegant, you used the best of nature, highlighted by your creative flair and completed it with your love. Thank you for your attention to detail, your kind heart, and a wonderful job from the petals to the bouquets to the centerpieces.  I don’t know if you realize what an impact you made and how well you do your job. Happy Holidays, and a healthy and peaceful 2012…”

“Miss Representation” at Orson

It is always a pleasure to design an event at Elizabeth Falkner’s Michelin recommended restaurant, Orson.  Located in an old warehouse in San Francisco’s SOMA district, the menu features seasonal dishes, handcrafted cocktails, and plenty of cake.

On a warm summer evening this year, a group of business women who had traveled from all over Asia to attend a conference at San Francisco’s Moscone center were hosted by a local company, for a evening of dinner, and an evening of learning about the film, “Miss Representation.”

Written and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, “Miss Representation” is a film that explores how mainstream media contributes to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America.  The film includes stories from teenage girls and provocative interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists and academics. The Floral Design Notes: The evening’s dinner was hosted on the main floor of the restaurant; The table top flowers included vases, gardens, and terrariums of summer flowers; The candlelight was provided by LED amber flicker lights set in frosted, glass votive cups (the candle choice for historic buildings, as well as windy California wine country weddings).
