Delighted we are, to share the wedding day of a local girl.
Home for this couple is Bermuda.
But, a wedding “back home” was the choice made by all.
Congratulations, Jessica, Alastair, and your families.

In the early 1990’s, I would help my friend Kathy in her role as the Development Director for Washington Environmental Council (WEC). The Council’s belief and mission, is that all things in the world are better when air and water, are kept clean. My very small part included the preparation of bid sheets and storyboards for the annual, WEC auction, and service as a “spotter” during the live auction. Being a “spotter” is kind of like bird watching, but instead you spot the accuracy of people’s bid numbers on paddles.
At each year’s auction, the WEC would honor environmental heroes & stewards. Usually, the folks celebrated were those who first, single handedly, then with their small community, took on a corporation attempting to dump something horrific into a stream, or clear-cut a piece of forest, where, the trickle down results would have become catastrophic for creatures, fish, and people. One year, somebody a bit more visible in the public eye was honored. Her name is Christine Gregoire, and at that time, she served as Washington State’s Attorney General. I will admit, and regret, I don’t remember the specifics of her achievements being honored that evening. But, what she said during her very gracious, appreciative, and brief thank you speech, has never left my mind and heart. It went something like this: “Thank you for this honor tonight. Being a good steward includes finding other stewards to work with you. So, go to the elementary schools, and start with the first graders. Show them and teach them how to do things to care for the world we live in and they likely, always will.”
Governor Gregoire, thank you for your inspiration and for your continued public service-Kathleen McEwen, Kate’s Blossoms

Kate’s Blossoms is proud to continue its support of children’s educational activities at The Marine Mammal Center. Below, a few photos of The Marine Mammal Center’s 15th Annual Gala, held on October 14, 2011 at the historic and beautiful San Francisco Ferry Building.
The event raised $60,000 for the Whale Bus, a mobile, marine science program which visits greater Bay Area schools, and a total of $130,000 to support all the vital areas of animal care, education and research work at the Center.
Continuing the celebration and attention to Angela Haseltine Pozzi’s “Washed Ashore: Plastics, Sea Life, and Art” exhibit, the evening’s floral arrangements were designed in or included, plastics collected by kids during a coastal clean up day.
Special thanks:
Zoe and Tim, Paula LeDuc Fine Catering
Jason Mitchell, DJ Jason Mitchell, for his seamless coordination of the evening’s stage, sound and music
Elena Graham and Deb Castellana for sharing these beautiful photos

Sarah and Alex, from the Lone Star State of Texas – You were indeed two shining stars in Sonoma’s wine country this wedding season! You and your families are a joy, you have spirit, and I wish you a lifetime of happiness together. May our paths cross again, when you travel our way West, from the South.
Perched high above the Sonoma Valley just where the Mayacamas Mountains begin, Boot Hill, part of the Kunde Family Estate, hosted the ceremony and reception. 360-degree views of the valley, huge oak trees dripping with moss, perfect breezes, flocks of goldfinches and bluebirds playing amongst the vines. This location took our breath away. Many thanks to Stephanie Franci, Kunde Family Estate, for your welcome to Kate’s Blossoms, and your assistance before and on wedding day.
They, have said, a picture tells a thousand words. I would tend to agree, and share these photos from the magically talented Tiffany and Marita, Adeline & Grace Photography. Ladies, you won my heart on wedding day, first meeting you while you triangulated the sunlight, dodging behind the wedding altar’s wine barrels with your intuitive light meter, to assure your correct lens angle at the time of Sarah’s walk down the aisle. Good on you.
Christian Roder, Wedding Cakes by Krumbs Cakes, our dear friend and colleague, creates masterpieces in the form of cake. When his van rolls up, you know you are at a wedding, if there ever was any doubt. With your eyes, you can taste each and every bite. It might be a Princess cake, vanilla cake with lingonberry jam and Bavarian cream. Hmmm, maybe it’s my favorite, lemon cake filled with Meyer Lemon filling. Always glad when my bucket of flowers for the cake, is for Krumbs.
My heartfelt and professional thanks to Nicol Turner, Little Blue Box Weddings, with Amanda Harris Schroeder, for seamless and detailed inspirations, directives, timelines, and your continued trust in our services. You do not miss a beat. Your grace is immeasurable.
Thank you to the talented team at Daydreamer Cinema who so eloquently captured the elegance, grace and joy of the day with artistic vision and videographical excellence. Adorned with professionalism, humor and an affable manner, Daydreamer Cinema was a delight to work with.

Wine Country Connections, a collective of wedding and event professionals who work in Sonoma and Napa’s wine country, gathered in late August to celebrate and promote their mission: education, professional support and collaboration, networking.
We had the pleasure of sharing a warm summer evening at Clos du Bois Winery, in the breezes, before the sunset, under that stars. Also, some Marlstone, the completely epic Bordeaux style red from Clos, with its deep, inky ruby red blackberry and cherry lusciousness might have been poured into our glasses. To one’s health!
Our big thanks, to the following folks:
-For these lovely images (he never fails to make our posies look pretty) our friend and colleague, Curtis Myers, Perfect Circle Photography
-To the founders of Wine Country Connections, Robin Hawkey and Michael Peterson
-Our gracious hosts Jessica Boldt, Events in the Vines; Jennifer Tusa and Robyn West, Clos du Bois
-The diva of setting a table, Ann Marie Curran, Wine Country Party & Events
It is a great thing when you meet somebody with as much energy and excitement as Andrea, our June 18, 2011 bride! The day’s ceremony was celebrated at Our Lady of Loretto, followed by a reception at Stone Tree Golf Club. Andrea, Craig and families, thank you for the opportunity and pleasure of our work together! Many thanks to Gary Trignani, Accents Photo, for these wonderful wedding images. Keeping us organized on wedding day? The talented wedding coordinator, Amanda Harris Schroeder.

Autumn, 2011. We have just completed a most amazing wedding season. We worked with friends old and new. Just about every one of our wonderful clients wished for something unique, one of a kind, in sync with their very own styling. We shall be sharing all. As I return to writing and posting, I must jump back in time, to catch up to present day-
-Emily and Michael wished for a green wedding at the Marin Art and Garden Center, on two fronts: the use of found and recycled containers; a design which family and friends could take home for years of enjoyment. As such, we coordinated antique silver plate serving pieces and vintage glass compotes, from my Sonoma County antique and second hand store travels, combined with live succulent plants, and created small wedding gardens. A few cymbidium orchids were picked into the designs for a bit of festive color. Our thanks to the Jennifer Paschal, Bruce Forrester Photography for sharing these joyous images, Michael Beachnau who coordinated the day’s wedding.
A glimpse of last weekend’s wedding floral designs, styled at the Ralston-White Retreat, Mill Valley, California. Congratulations and Mahalo, Danielle and Chris.
Located in a warehouse of yesteryear, around the corner from The Hotel Utah in San Francisco’s SOMA district, Orson is Elizabeth Falkner’s “other” Michelin recommended restaurant. Elizabeth’s first set of Michelin stars? Citizen Cake. Two congratulations! Orson features: delicious, seasonal dishes; handcrafted cocktails; a perfectly grilled burger with numerous homemade condiments; plenty of cupcakes; an upstairs’ private loft and room for special events and celebrations, which can include one of her big cakes.
Our dear friend and colleague, Christina Glenn, is at the helm of the special events calendar, details, and planning. Recently, Kate’s worked with Christina and her client on a special birthday party for 61 guests. Delicious food, great wine, dancing, and a chocolate birthday cake. Happy Birthday Elva!
A little bit of so many things have been coordinated, styled, and designed
at the Kate’s Blossoms’ studio these past few weeks: Full swing and production of our 2011 weddings and events; site visits & and the final styling of our late summer-autumn weddings; working with our old (more figuratively than literally) wedding professional friends, along with some new and remarkable wedding vendors; holiday party planning in downtown San Francisco; Brides and Grooms making their plans for 2012. Sunday afternoons on the deck with family and friends, along with cold nights at AT&T park have also been included on the calendar!
In the weeks ahead, we shall continue to share the stories of our client’s, now friend’s, celebrations of love. For now, a photo preamble of Kate’s Colors of Summer. Cheers!
